31.4 million euros earmarked for the renovation of the north end of the Barcelona Sants station. The Ministry of Development has tendered the refurbishment of the north end of the Barcelona Sants station for connection to the tunnel of the High Speed \u200b\u200bLine Madrid-Barcelona-French border will link to Sagrera. This project, approved last Friday by the Board of Directors of ADIF, has a budget of EUR 31,460,619.8 (VAT included). Currently, the platforms and high-speed routes in Sants are oriented to the east (Avinguda de Roma).
The new high-speed tunnel refers to the terminal from the northeast (calle Provenza), making it necessary to reorient and align their facilities available to suit the new configuration. Subsequently, using the corresponding track equipment, link up with the double track tunnel coming from the high speed Sants-La Sagrera.
The project comprises a set of amendments to the underground structure of the station to carry out a redefinition of the beam paths. The solution adopted, will be rebuilt and demolished 5 Pillars 50 m section of bulkhead that supports the current coverage for replacement by steel trusses supported delivery in the new screen containing the tunnel, and a new column lines compatible with the geometric dimensions requiring traffic rail. The new definition of beam paths will, in future, the incorporation of the tracks currently used for conventional gauge traffic to those settings.
To get the new provision will be removed six high speed lines in its northern end for the subsequent implementation of a new stretch of 800 m in length, by mounting track on ballast. Also placed rigid catenary and reattached the security and communications facilities, maintaining the current technology. The work will be complemented with the demolition and subsequent reconstruction of the north end of the 4 platforms for high-speed services.
Adif has made an intensive effort of planning for these works to achieve constructive solution which keeps the current capstone, representing a significant reduction of the effects on surface mobility, and preventing vehicle traffic suppress in an area which shows a high density of traffic.
